After 12 years of marriage and four children, I asked my husband (who had been a farmer his whole life) if he thought people would come to the farm to purchase pumpkins for fall decorating. He thought it was a crazy idea but was willing to help try. That first year we planted probably a quarter of an acre. The crop turned out beautifully. From there we visited the farmers market on Saturdays, taking our produce with us and handing out fliers to those who were interested in coming to the farm to pick their own.
Twenty years later we have expanded to about 25 acres of u-pick pumpkins, gourds and squash. We also have them available at our main shed. We have many schools visit for farm tours and have a host of visitors on the weekends from all over.
Our children have helped us through the years as have many family members. We have added to our family with marriages and births, and always enjoyed being able to share a part of our life with others.
